New Cray Supercomputer is the Fastest in the World!

Posted on: November 12, 2008

cray_1_supercomputer1 Do you think that your expensive, custom-built gaming computer is powerful? Do you think that you have the hottest computer on the block because you can run Crysis at full specs? Well, that won’t impress me one bit because if you want to see an impressive computer. Then say hello to the Cray XT Jaguar supercomputer.

It has some pretty awesome mind-blowing specs: 45,000 quad core Opteron processors, 362TB of RAM, and a 10PB (petabyte) storage array. This thing goes along at a sserious 1.64 petaflops. It is truly the fastest machine on earth being used for non-classified research, but you have to assume that there are even bigger machines in the deep, secret halls of the government.
